For Keith Buning who will be having surgery on Wednesday, May 25 to repair the damage to his hip from falling on the ice earlier this spring.  Pray for successful surgery and relief from the constant pain.

For Greg Zuiderveen’s brother, Steve Zuiderveen, living in Baltimore. He has been diagnosed with squamous cell neck cancer and is beginning six weeks of chemo and radiation beginning after Memorial Day.  Pray for healing and his health to be restored.

Continue to pray for Noah Outman and Shari Bisballe, who are experiencing health issues. Pray for patience and peace as they go through this time of concern.

For Pastor Ken and Laurie Koning as Laurie has a series of radiation treatments.  Pray for God’s grace and peace as well as strength and rest.

For our shut-ins, Ted and Marleen Heuker, Vivian Reinink, and Ed and Edie Meyering and others who are in care facilities and/or homebound. Pray for God’s peace and strength for each day.

For Chris DeBoer, Maranda Koopman, Lisa Proctor, Jack Van Drie, and all others who are experiencing health concerns or are healing from surgery.  Pray for peace and patience as they live each day.

For all those in our church and community who are walking a cancer journey. Pray for continued good health reports.

Family Faith Formation

Faith Practice Reflection Tip - the Practice of Prayer: Read Mark 9:14-24 and ponder or discuss the following questions. This father’s utterance, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” is an honest prayer. He’s not trying to impress Jesus; he’s asking Jesus to meet him where he is. In what areas of your faith do you experience doubt? How is doubt handled in your church family? Is there room for people to experience both belief and unbelief as they grow in faith?

Council Request

If you are using the church kitchen for an event or ministry, please help keep our kitchen tidy by cleaning up and putting away the items you have used.  Thanks for your help with this!

Faith Practice Reflection Tip - the Practice of Prayer: Read Psalm 130 and ponder or discuss the following questions. At what times in your life have you felt that you were in “the depths”? What role does hope play in our prayers—and in other parts of our faith formation?

Faith Practice Reflection Tip - the Practice of Prayer: Read Psalm 145 and ponder or discuss the following questions.  Of the four components of the ACTS model for prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication), adoration seems to be the part of prayer that is difficult for many people in the Reformed tradition. Is that true for you? If so, why do you think that is?

Prayers and Praises

Remember these with ongoing prayers for God’s Mercy and Blessing:

We express our sympathy to Terry and Sandy Lutke’s family and all other friends and family of Ruth Lutke. May God’s comfort and peace be with them.

Remember to pray for God’s comfort for the Barry Priellip family and friends as we express our sympathy to them in Barry’s passing last weekend.

For Jason Huttenga’s girlfriend, Sheri Bisballe, who is walking a cancer journey and is currently undergoing chemo treatments.  Pray that her side effects will be minimal and the treatments will be effective.

For John and Kathy Tripp as they recover from influenza.  Pray for a speedy recovery.

For Pastor Ken and Laurie Koning as Laurie has a series of radiation treatments.  Pray for God’s grace and peace as well as strength and rest.

For our shut-ins, Ted and Marleen Heuker, Vivian Reinink, Harriet Quist and Ed and Edie Meyering and others who are in care facilities and/or homebound. Pray for God’s peace and strength for each day.

For Chris DeBoer, Ted Heuker, Maranda Koopman, Lisa Proctor, Jack Van Drie, and all others who are experiencing health concerns or are healing from surgery.  Pray for peace and patience as they live each day.

For Norma Koetje, Deb Winkel, Kiyah Crowe, Laurie Koning, and all those in our church and community who are walking a cancer journey.

For our senior saints and all who are limited in their daily activities due to age or illness and for all those who mourn the loss of loved ones.

For the Shaarda’s, Crickmore’s, Hoekwater’s, Crossroads Community Church, and the Josh and Poppy Buning family.

For Jessica Campbell and her family and all others we know who serve in the military.

Praising and thanking God:

Congratulations to Donovan and Nichole (Catanzarite) Quist who were united in marriage yesterday!  May God bless their home together!

Congratulations to Ryan and Kimber Westmaas in the birth of their daughter, Vera Rose, on Friday, April 22.  Praise God for the gift of this new little one!

Thank you to our GEMS and Cadet leaders who volunteered to work with our children’s ministries this season!  You are much appreciated!

Thank you to Olin Shaw who has returned as our guest organist again today!  We appreciate his willingness to use his talents to help us in worship today.

Expressions of Thanks

“Thanks to our church family for the many expressions of love to Mom (Ruth Lutke) before her passing and to the friends that were there for her for many years.  Thank you for your many ways of expressing that you cared after her passing with kind words, prayers, flowers, food brought in and so much more.  Thanks to Pastor Adam, Sally, Carol, Phil in the sound booth and all those that prepared and served the luncheon.  We are so blessed to be a part of this church family.”  With our deepest thanks - Terry & Sandy Lutke & family

Family Faith Formation

Faith Practice Reflection Tip - the Practice of Prayer: Read Matthew 6:9-13 and ponder or discuss the following question. In Whistling in the Dark, Frederick Buechner writes, “‘Thy kingdom come . . . on earth’ is what we are saying. And if that were suddenly to happen, what then? What would stand and what would fall? . . . To speak those words is to invite the tiger out of the cage, to unleash a power that makes atomic power look like a warm breeze.” What are we asking when we pray for God’s kingdom to come on earth?

Please be aware that there is a statewide petition being circulated called "Reproductive Freedom for All." paid for by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU.
