Family Faith Formation Tip
  • Doubts aren’t a sign of weak faith—they’re evidence that people are wrestling with big questions. Create an atmosphere in your home that invites kids to ask questions, express doubts, and think and feel their way into the big questions of life. “What do you think about that?” is a very affirming question, no matter what your age is.

Today’s Sermon Outline
“The Greatest Command”
Mark 12:28-34
Introduction

  1. When asked by a teacher of the law, Jesus declares that the greatest commandment is to love God entirely and to love our neighbor as ourselves (vv. 28-31).

  1. The teacher of the law agrees and recognizes that love of God and neighbor is more important than any sacrifice (vv. 32-33).

  1. Jesus commends the wise law teacher as being close to God’s kingdom (v. 34).

Conclusion:  How well are we demonstrating our love for God and our neighbor?

Special Event at Prosper CRC
  • Prosper CRC will be hosting 2019 Simulcast Secret Church on Friday, April 26, 7:00pm - 1:00am. Taught by David Platt  Secret Church is our version of "house church" where we meet  periodically for an intense time of Bible study—lasting 6+ hours. This is a great opportunity to worship with other believers from around the word—some of whom have to meet in secret! This Year's Topic –Prayer, Fasting and the Pursuit of God   "Our culture is constantly telling us that we can achieve anything we set our mind to. Sadly, many followers of Christ and many churches have adopted this self-sufficient mindset, relying on their own wisdom and abilities instead of relying on God. But what if we were never intended to be self-sufficient? And what if God has designed us so that our greatest satisfaction is found as we depend on Him fully for everything we need?  In Secret Church 19 we’ll take an in-depth look at the Bible’s teaching on prayer and fasting. We’ll see that our inabilities and weaknesses are the very place where God meets us with His strength and sufficiency. We’ll also see that faithfulness to the mission of Christ requires depending on the Spirit of Christ. Through prayer and fasting, we demonstrate our need for God’s power and our desire for His glory."  (Event description from https://secretchurch.radical.net/) Cost is $10. Contact Alex Dodde at 231-349-2806 or adodde@gmail.com with questions or to sign up.
